MISSION:
The mission of the Toledo Day Nursery is to provide children of working and student parents with quality, affordable child care programs devoted to enhancing the child's educational, social, emotional and physical development; to provide the parent with the child care resources to strengthen the family, and to serve as a role model and advocate for quality child care throughout the community.

PROGRAM:
Toledo Day Nursery provides the highest quality, early-childhood program available. Our primary focus is to enhance the growth and development of all our children in a safe, healthy, learning environment. Nurturing, affordable care is provided for:
  • Infants (6 weeks to 18 months)
  • Toddlers (18 months to 36 months)
  • Preschoolers (3-5 years)
Daily scheduled activities include art, outdoor play, block and dramatic play, and much more to stimulate optimum growth and development. A nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack is provided daily for all age groups. All children receive a developmental screening upon enrollment and those with suspected delays are referred for additional evaluation and/or treatment to the appropriate community resource. Parents who have children with disabilities, are encouraged to enroll their children at Toledo Day Nursery.

NATIONAL ACCREDITATION
Toledo Day Nursery is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This accreditation reaffirms the Nursery's outstanding developmentally appropriate programs for young children. NAEYC accreditation standards far exceed those regulations set by Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services. Accreditation is a stringent self-evaluation process with only about 7% of early childhood programs in the country achieving this status. The Nursery's teacher/child care ratio's are much lower than non-accredited child care centers. The most important safety factor to know as a parent is the number of adults caring for the children in a classroom.

PARENT EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
Toledo Day Nursery provides families educational tracts for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. These tracts focus on recognition of developmental milestones and developmentally-appropriate behaviors and activities. Free childcare is provided, as well as a family-style dinner.

SLIDING FEE SCALE
Toledo Day Nursery offers a sliding fee scale to parents whose child care is not provided by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. This scale is based on family income.
