  • Early Learning Center in Toledo, OH
    Allison Gunn

    Alli is from Cincinnati and moved to Sylvania in May of 2020. She has two daughters, Addison and Aubrey, who she enjoys going on walks and reading books like Harry Potter with them. She enjoys working with toddlers because they learn new skills daily, and she wants to help them achieve those skills. Alli is in the final stages of completing her CDA.

    Bre Booker

    Bre is our infant room teacher and started with our program in August of 2021, bringing two years of experience working with infants and toddlers. She has her associate’s degree in early childhood education. When you look into our classrooms, you will see Ms. Bre sitting on the floor with the babies reading stories.

    Mhia Charles

    Ms. Mhia started with Toledo Day Nursery in September of 2021. She has two years of experience working with infants and is currently finishing her CDA. Not only is Ms. Mhia a fantastic teacher, but she also used to be a TDN student! When she was five years old, Ms. Mhia attended our Stickney location and now has family at that location!

    Ryleigh Waller

    Ryleigh has been with Toledo Day Nursery since August of 2021. She brings two years of experience working with the toddler age group and plans to get her CDA.

    Ms. Kylie

    Ms. Kylie is originally from the Cincinnati area, but has lived in Northwest Ohio since 2016. She received her Bachelors of Science in Social Work from Bowling Green State University in 2019. She has worked with children for over five years and has found a passion for teaching preschool-aged children! She says, “I am so excited to have the opportunity to lead a classroom at TDN, and really look forward to getting to know each and every child!

    Ms. Zhane

    Ms. Zhane was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated in 2021 from Athena’s career academy in the early education program. She says, “I love working with preschoolers. The children at TDN bring me so much joy. I learn alongside them every day.

    Ms. Lindsay

    Lindsay graduated from Perrysburg High School in 2017 and has been working with children of all ages since 2019. She enjoys biking, being outdoors, and arts and crafts. Lindsay’s favorite part of working with children is getting to know their unique personalities and how patient they are when teaching her new things!

    Baylee Gutierrez

    Baylee is the infant classroom lead teacher. She started with Toledo Day Nursery May of 2022. Baylee is a family person which consists of her wife and five fur babies. Baylee loves to work with her hands. She crochets, paints, does crafts, and has a mini garden (which the kitties love to play in and dig up the plants). You will see Baylee smiling most of the time and she believes you can always fine the good in a bad situation.

    Clara Gomez

    Clara is from the Dominican Republic, where she earned a degree in Computer Science. She speaks Spanish and English and has six years of previous experience with a child care organization. Clara loves the opportunity to spend time at different centers and age groups. Her leisure time pursuits include spending time with her husband and four children, listening to music, and finding good sales while shopping. Clara received her CDA in 2019.

    Breanna Hansen

    After attending Owens Community College to earn a medical assistant degree, Breanna enjoyed and gained experience in child care. She now works in mixed-age infants and toddlers at our Stickney Center after receiving her CDA in 2019. She's a Toledo native, and her favorite pastimes include spending time with her family and fiance. Her dream vacation is a cruise to someplace warm and exotic.

    Paige Vollmer

    Paige is a 2019 graduate from BGSU with a Bachelor's Degree in child development. She has always known that her true passion in life is to work with children. Her number one goal is to build positive relationships with each child where they are able to feel loved, seen, and important! In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with people who mean the most to her: her family and friends. She also enjoys baking, cooking, and traveling to new places!

    Shanice Lyons

    Shanice started with Toledo Day Nursery in the fall of 2020 and received her CDA in October 2021. She is a mother of two children, and she is originally from Maryland. She loves to work on puzzles and read books in her free time, but nothing beats spending quality time with her family. Her favorite part of working with children is their inquisitive minds and imagination.

    Melissa Erickson

    Melissa is a San Diego Native currently living in Toledo, OH. She has an associate's degree in early childhood education. She is happily married living on a small farm with Nigerian dwarf goats chickens! She has one daughter, Hannah, and one grandson, Ares, who are my entire world.

    Lucy Guerrero

    Lucy is the lead head start teacher at the Stickney location. She started with Toledo Day Nursery in April of 2022. Lucy comes to us with over four years’ experience teaching young children. She says, “teaching is my true passion and I cannot see myself doing anything else.” She has two children and a Pomsky puppy who keep her busy. When she is not working, she loves to travel and explore the world. One fun fact about Lucy is that she can say the ABC’s backwards!

    Amber Hogarth

    Amber is a Preschool Assistant Teacher at the Stickney location. Amber enjoys being in nature, laughing with friends and drinking coffee. She gets inspired by the world around her. Her dream has been to impact the next generation of leaders, teachers, CEO’s through hers and the children’s learning. She loves to use creativity and imagination while being with children as a tool to support their learning.

    Juliann Strickler

    Juliann is the Early Head Start Co-Lead Teacher at the Stickney location. Juli has a bachelor’s degree in individualized studies with the focus on special education. She has several years’ experience working with children of different ages and enjoys working with children because of the positive interactions she has and watching them grow. When not at work, she enjoys cooking, baking, and crafting. She enjoys being with her family, going to plays and spending the afternoon at the park with her nieces and nephews.

  • Early Learning Center in Toledo, OH
    Karen L. Mccoy, Ph.D.

    Appointed President of our non-profit organization in 2014, Karen holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees from Ohio University. She has years of administrative experience and accomplishment in NAEYC- accredited early childhood education. Dr. McCoy’s much-appreciated leadership and dedication at Toledo Day Nursery continues to uphold the legacy that began in 1871 of care and service to the children and families of Toledo, especially those who live in poverty.

    Julie Barrientes

    A native of Toledo, Julie began working at Toledo Day Nursery in high school and has been with us for 29 years. She attended Davis College and helped us grow from manually typed ledger cards to modern-day digital files. Julie capably manages our office and organizational procedures. She and her husband, Sam, have three daughters, and her leisure time interests include gardening, fitness exercising, and playing pool.

    Ericka Dinkens

    With a BA in business administration & marketing/management from Lourdes College and years of experience, Ericka joined Toledo Day Nursery in 2012. She manages the unique bookkeeping needs of our non-profit organization and enjoys her occasional visits with the children and their teachers. In her leisure time, she loves to travel and make memories with her own two beautiful children, who she says “are her world.”

    Julia Myers

    Julia has worked for Toledo Day Nursery since 2016. She started teaching at our Mosaic location and is now a Director for all three of our sites. After receiving her degree from Bowling Green State University in 2015, Julia is currently attending Antioch College to receive her certification in Reggio Emilia. She now focuses on being a new mom to her son, Forrest, and implementing the curriculum into our three locations.
