Ali is our Stickney location Assistant director starting in January of 2021. She has a CDA (Child Development Associate) Degree and is attending the University of Toledo for her Bachelor's Degree. She is a Toledo native, is married, and has an infant son. A craftsperson, one of her favorite pastimes is restoring furniture. A classic rock fan, Ali’s secret vacation objective is a trip to France to visit Jim Morrison’s resting place.
Ali is from Cincinnati and moved to Sylvania in May of 2020. She has two daughters, Addison and Aubrey, who she enjoys going on walks and reading books like Harry Potter with them. She enjoys working with toddlers because they learn new skills daily and she wants to help them achieve those skills. Allison is currently working on getting her CDA.
Bre just started at our Jefferson location in the infant classroom. She has her degree in early education.
From the Dominican Republic, where she earned a degree in Computer Science, Clara speaks Spanish and English and also has six years of previous experience with a child care organization. She says she loves the opportunity to spend time at different centers and age groups. Leisure time pursuits include spending time with her husband and four children, listening to music, and finding good sales shopping. Clara received her CDA in 2019.
With Toledo Day Nursery since 2000, Courtney has her CDA and works in infant care, ages 6 weeks through 18 months. With her daughters Kennedy and Keely, and son Keaton, she enjoys spending time with her mom and siblings and their families. Her interests also include what she calls her “hidden talent”, singing at weddings, and many other special occasions.
Ryleigh just started working with Toledo Day Nursery in August of 2021. She has two years of experience working with toddlers.
Shelly has a Bachelors's Degree in Early Childhood Education from BGSU, Shelly has a decade of experience in child care. She enjoys baking specialty cakes and going outside with her daughters. Shelly enjoys implementing social-emotional skills into her curriculum and sets them up for success later in life.
After attending Owens Community College to earn a Medical Assistant degree, Breanna enjoyed and gained experience in child care. She works in mixed-age infants and toddlers at our Stickney center has plans to get her CDA, and is engaged to be married soon. A Toledo native, spending time with her family and fiance are favorite pastimes. Dream vacation: a cruise to someplace warm and exotic.
Jessica Horton recently started with Toledo Day Nursery as our lead Head Start teacher. She has experience working in the classroom, as well as, being an administrator.
Melissa has an associate's degree in business and child development. She has worked with children in a pediatric dentistry program for several years before moving to Oregon. She moved to Ohio in 2015 to the country and started working for Toledo Day Nursery in October of 2018. She is happily married and living the farm life with 7 goats, 20 chickens, 2 dogs, 2 ducks, and 3 turkeys. She hopes to one day move to Mexico to live!
Paige is a recent graduate from Bowling Green State University where she earned her bachelor's degree in Education and Human Development. She always knew from the start that she was meant to teach young children by making a positive impact on their lives and creating meaningful connections which each individual child. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling to new places and being around her friends and family.
Shanice started with Toledo Day Nursery during the fall of 2020 and she is currently getting her CDA. She is a mother of two children and she is originally from Maryland. In her free time, she loves to work on puzzles and reading books, but nothing beats spending quality time with her family. Her favorite part of working with children is their inquisitive minds and imagination.
Taylor started in our Preschool Headstart classroom in March of 2021. She currently has her infant and toddler CDA but is hoping to obtain her associate's degree in early childhood. Taylor's favorite thing to do outside of work is making memories with her son, family, or friends. She works with children because ever since she was young, she knew she wanted to be a teacher. She enjoys building relationships with the children and seeing that what she is doing makes a difference.
Melissa just started with Toledo Day Nursery in March 2021 as the lead Pre-Kindergarten teacher at our Rosary Cathedral location. Melissa has been teaching preschool for two years and received her CDA in January of 2021. She 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls, and 2 grandsons! She moved to toledo 6 years ago after living in the Detroit area. She enjoys reading, family, and volunteering.
Appointed President of our non-profit organization in 2014, Karen holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Pennsylvania State University, and a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees from Ohio University. She has years of administrative experience and accomplishment in NAEYC- accredited early childhood education. Dr. McCoy’s much-appreciated leadership and dedication at Toledo Day Nursery continues to uphold our 141-year legacy of care and service to the children and families of Toledo, especially those in need.
A native of Toledo, Julie began working at Toledo Day Nursery in high school and has been with us for 29 years. She attended Davis College and helped us grow from manually typed ledger cards to modern-day digital files. She capably manages our office and organizational procedures. She and her husband Sam have three daughters. Leisure time interests include gardening, fitness exercising, and playing pool.
With a BA in Business Administration & Marketing /Management from Lourdes College and years of experience, Ericka joined Toledo Day Nursery in 2012. She manages the unique bookkeeping needs of our non-profit organization and enjoys her occasional visits with the children and their teachers. In her leisure time, she loves to travel and make memories with her own two beautiful children who she says “are her world”.
Julia has worked for Toledo Day Nursery for almost five years. She started teaching at our Mosaic location and is now a Curriculum Specialist for all three of our locations. After receiving her degree from Bowling Green State University in 2015 and is currently attending Antioch College to receive her certification in Reggio Emilia. She currently has been focusing on being a new mom to her son, Forrest, and implementing curriculum into our three locations.
